Some 30,000 hoops fans got a free look-see at the final four on Friday afternoon.

sweethearts from George Mason -- took to the hardwood at the RCA Dome for a public practice session. More than 30,000 fans (more than anyone expected) streamed into the Dome for a firsthand look at the four teams trying to fit into the prized glass slipper. And Juan was on hand...yes...peddling peanuts, beverages, and other goodies to fans courtesy of Mark's band program.

Meanwhile up north Flora was...pick one: A) deep asleep, B) living high on the expense account hog, or C) discussing the finer points of curriculum evaluation on North Michigan Avenue in the Windy City whilst allegedly attending a conference for work, while Juan put in a late night moving the new furniture around and toting boxes of books from the basement to the study. It's wonderful to have a place to work

again...and to put together these little missives for our Found In Fishers audience. And we finally have a kitchen table to eat at, and there are even extra chairs so that our friends can join us. Hint, hint. There is the matter of needing to return a floor lamp that look really good on the showroom floor but that looks really hideous on our family room floor.

We'll get on the stick and start updating more often. In the meantime tune into your local CBS affiliate to watch the Big Dance live from the Dome Saturday and Monday nights. My prediction: Florida and UCLA, with Florida taking home the glass slipper and UCLA's charter flight turning into a pumpkin at the stoke of midnight. Ta-ta all!

Welcome Spring

Just when we thought we would be getting ready to plant our sod and begin some flower gardens, surprise, a spring snowstorm. All the warnings were placed last night. Six to ten inches in the Indianapolis area by morning. When I woke up this morning I was rather surprised by the fact that there was not a flake of snow. But within one hour the storm rolled right in and we started to get buried, right during the rush hour. With the temperatures dropping and the wind howling, it took me a full hour to get to work and I only live four miles away! But alas, when I came home there were plenty of boxes to work on unpacking. I was able to eliminate 8 more from the pile before calling it quits.

Not an end in sight...

Bet you were starting to wonder if the Found in Fishers clan was buried under boxes and couldn't blog. The reality is that we've been unpacking massive amounts of boxes and donated more than we put away. After a long week of unpacking we celebrated with the arrival of our first official visitors for the weekend.

With the weekend coming to an end, I just keep thinking there's not an end in sight to all these boxes. For every 1 we unpack, 2 step up to take its place. We were lucky here on Dekoven Drive to have visitors from the north. Sarah, Mom, Dad, Liam, and Nick all came for the weekend. Oh, and the two weiner dogs. Thinking they (the humans, not the pooches) would help unpack boxes we didn't unpack a single box! Instead, lots of R & R and some shopping in between. I heard the ride to Fishers was quite interesting as Dad agreed to bring Juan's stored jet ski. That, of course, was before anyone realized that the lights weren't working on the trailer. Imagine this: Driving 3 hours in a SUV jammed with people, two weiner dogs, powder sugared donuts and the relentless click, click, click of the hazard lights so that other people on the road would see the jet ski in tow. Kinda makes me laugh and adds to all the new adventures we are experiencing since moving south.

The family got to take the big tour. They especially appreciated the rows and rows of boxes in our basement with large white signs that Juan created identifying their location. And he calls me anal? They approved of the twigs and baskets above the cabinets and the grandfather clock in the foyer. They of course loved everything I did. Poor Juano hasn't figured out the power of the union.

We enjoyed Belgium waffles from the almost-sent-to-Goodwil waffle iron, a great pork roast, and introduced ourselves to apple martinis. What can we say, Sarah's a light-weight!

The funniest part of the weekend was back to the old beaver references. You remember the one-tooth beaver who carved that table Juan wanted? Beavertini returned in full force this weekend. It started when Juan had to pick up drycleaning. Where did he go? Beaver Cleaners. Fishers actually has Beaver Cleaners. And you heard it hear first...Juan and Sarah are opening a bar. The Leaky Beaver. They have already planned the food and drink menus. All this planning was of course while sampling the apple martinis.

Gotta get back to those boxes. I just hope that I don't have corregated nightmares!

A real juggling act.

The day we've been waiting for arrived. We moved into our new home on Friday, March 3rd. It was quite the day. Had to use my ol' teaching skills to keep the day organized as many different things started happening at the same time...most of which were not scheduled for Friday.

8:00 AM...sharp, Indianapolis time, Two Men and a Truck arrived at the apartment to load up some of the furniture. The treat was we really got 3 men and a truck so things moved quickly. Into the truck and off to the house. Once Flora arrived at the house things were fast and furious. At the same time -- and 175 miles to the north -- Juan was entertaining 6 men and 2 trucks from Bill's Movers. Their job: Empty the storage units and get the contents to Fishers. Back and forth telephone conversations kept the two Reichanadters abreast of the comings and goings of the moving companies.

Just as Two Men and a Truck were finishing unloading the painters arrived...a day early. Their comment about us moving: "Oh, senora, no problemo...we paint around the movers and if they hit the wall, we'll fix it." So quick-action-Flora (sounds like a new hero action figure) got the painters into the office and piano room so that they would not interfer with the movers when the folks from up north arrived. At the same time the man from the blind company was inside measuring windows and trying not to get paint on himself, when along comes the landscapers with all their equipment to do a final grade on our property. It was almost comical.

Picture this: 6 guys moving stuff at a feverish pitch in and out...3 painters in the house painting...1 man measuring windows...and almost forgot the electrician fixing one of the ceiling fans...when along comes two big rigs in the dirt yard and three laborers who start to prepare our yard for landscaping. Dust is flying, boxes are whizzing by, the smell of paint is in the air. Enough said.

After about 4 hours things started to settle down and we became lost in a vertiable sea of boxes. It was amazing how the folks from Bill's Movers worked. We didn't regret our decision to go with the same company that moved us before. It was incredible to believe what one family has acculumated over the past 20 years. Many things we actually forgot we owned. Fortunately the basement is big enough to hold the vast majority of the boxes so that we can have some space to move around on the main levels.

It will take weeks to get things settled in. Juan has already been up in the crawl space loading it with things we know we want to store. I've been trying to get the kitchen under control and some living space in the bedrooms ready. We went to bed that night so overtired that it was hard to sleep. We were excited to finally be in our home, but were kept awake by the lights in the neighborhood since we don't have blinds and were dealing with the physical pain of moving boxes up and down stairs...13 up and 13 more to down. But when the day came to an end we realized how happy we were to see the end of apartment life become a reality and at the same time find some personal space for each other. We were also a little sad as it reminded us that our move has become more permanent.

It will be an interesting couple of weeks as we dive into the boxes and find those treasures we buried last fall. We'll keep you posted in hopes that you will notice some improvement in our new home. As you can see I better get started in the kitchen if we plan on eating anytime soon.
