A Night at the Buca

What a wonderful way to celebrate friendship...a great meal. The gang got together prior to going to Comedy Sportz and seeing Cinderella unscripted. The place to go around town for good Italian food is Buca di Beppo. Jeff is our house order organizer. Ok, we do make fun of him for taking charge and writing on the menu what we want to eat but it is a very efficient way to get the gangs ordering done. If you have not been to a Buca, you order the meal family style and so we had some serious decisions to make about what we wanted to eat. And then after stuffing our faces of course had to have dessert. Now Juano claims he does not really eat dessert. Could have fooled us! He wanted a taste just like everyone else. The portion sizes are unusually large but worth every bite. 

Spring in in the air, I hope

I am hoping that the snow storm of Valentine's Day becomes all but a memory and that we indeed with see Spring. I was excited when I saw a sign this morning...Spring flowers. The weather forecast for the next couples of weeks looks promising.
The 100 bulbs I planted in the front gardens started to pop out of the ground. It was great to see some color. That reminds me of all the things ahead of me this spring. I am trying to catch up on my scrapbooking. My friend Alice and I spent most of this weekend at a Memoranza scrapbooking party. I feel like I accomplished a lot.

I am going to take a few days of vacation over our spring break the first week of April. I am hoping the weather stays pleasant. I would like to paint the trim on my dog run door and start cleaning my gardens. I need to do some spring cleaning but most of my weekends will be spent packing, packing Sarah's house in preparation for her move. It is hard to believe that she is going to move so quickly. If all falls in place it will be at the end of April. Too bad I did not save all those boxes for her as now she visits the local grocer to get as many free boxes as possible.

China update - still waiting for information from the National Committee on United States-China relations with details. I mailed away my passport to update, got an e-mail about a listserv being set up, and there was a nice article in the Indianapolis Star about my scholarship. I will keep you posted. Until then, take time to stop and smell the flowers.

Time to pack again!

No not me, I am done moving for a while but my sister decided that it was time to sell her house. I don't know. Was it a whim, did she have mover's envy? Guess I really have to get in gear and find boxes and start helping her pack. The downside for me is that I live 2 and a half hours away so weekend time is not as easy for me as it was for her. But I will pitch in, I owe it to her. She packed many a box at my house. Besides, I am hoping for my own room to sleep in when I come north.

Speaking of packing, I am still waiting to hear about my trip to China. I don't know much about the specific locations. I did hear from the organizer that we are actually leaving earlier than originally planned to make sure we are in China when school is in session. They will just be ready to leave for summer break. That would be a plus. I would love to see what a school looks like in China. My friend Joey told me that in Taiwan the children are responsible for cleaning. Kids are assigned jobs like washing boards and even cleaning toilets! When the teacher enters the children must immediately stand and welcome the teacher and at the end stand and thank her. Too bad we don't see that in American schools. I did two official things so far: sent my passport in for renewal and filled out my vacation paperwork. Just a little more than 3 months and I am off on my journey. How much underwear do you take on a five and a half week trip?
