John gets the mail everyday and usually has little to say. However, this time he called me on my cell phone to announce the news he received via mail: His AARP membership. I just about split a gut laughing. But since 2009 is his year to turn 50 he is now eligible for AARP membership. Just another reminder that one is getting older.
I'm looking forward to seeing if his new membership will get me a discount at Kohl's on Wednesdays. Or, at Goodwill. I can save some bucks in 2009 with his help. I am luckier; my card won't arrive for quite a few more years.
On a happier note, we started the new year in style. Sarah, Pat, and Liam came the day before New Year's Eve to spent a couple days with us. Pat made filet mignon for dinner then we went over to our friend's house to ring in the new year. I think Liam had the best time with the kids who were visiting, at least by the volume of noise it seemed he had the best time. Not much after midnight we came home. After all, now that John is a senior citizen he gets tired faster.
The dogs are back home in Lansing so it is much quieter in Fishers. I spent the last two days getting some new year cleaning completed. I have about 20 bags for Goodwill and an overflowing garbage collection at the curb. It is always nice to have some time to do some mid-winter cleaning. I also wanted to get all my Christmas decorations put away so that when I go back to work on Monday I don't have to think about getting them down. Happy New Year!
